Gorilla Adventure Safari
EXCLUSIVE UGANDA AND RWANDA LUXURY GORILLA AND PRIMATE SAFARI
On arrival at Entebbe airport. You will be transferred to the Hotel to relax as you receover from jet-lag. Overnight at the Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel booked on bed and breakfast basis.
The gorilla safari starts after breakfast as you head through Mubende into Fort portal in time for lunch. From here, proceed to the Kibale Area at Ndali lodge which acts as the base for the Chimpanzee safari: Meals and overnight at Ndali Lodge. Or other in the same category.
Start the chimpanzee safari this morning walking through the dense vegetation as the safari guide follows the chimpanzees vocalizations. The chances of viewing the chimps at Kibale are about 90% and you will be allowed approximately one hour to view the chimpanzees before returning for your lunch at the base or Hotel. Meals and overnight at Ndali Lodge.
Morning breakfast before heading out to Queen Elizabeth National park. Have a game drive in the northern sector in search of Lion, Hyena, Elephant, Uganda Kob, Waterbuck and some colourful birds. Have lunch before descending into the Chambura gorge for chimpanzee walking safari. After the trekking safari, you transfer to the Jacana Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Our safari starts early as we visit the forest caves near Lake Nyamusingiri. The Bat Caves provide sanctuary to African Rock Pythons that feed on these flying mammals. The drive through forested and open savannah country passes through the fig lined road at Ishasha where it may be possible to spot the tree climbing lions. Proceed to the World Heritage site where more then half of the world’s mountain gorillas live. Have drinks at the campfire deck before dinner and overnight at The Gorilla Resort Bwindi Camp.
The Bwindi Gorilla Safari begins after breakfast and the briefing by the forest gorilla guides together with the wildlife rangers and gorilla trackers. The trekking of the Mountain gorillas through the jungle may be as short as 5 minutes or as long as 8 hours in difficult conditions. This though is rewarded with the encounter of the Mountain Gorilla Silverback together with his family. After the Bwindi gorilla watching safari, you transfer to base for drinks, 5 course dinner and overnight at The Gorilla Resort Bwindi Camp.
This morning, we head out into the Impenetrable forest teeming with wildlife. The forest boasts of plants that have evolved from the lost world. The trek is on marked trails which gets one close to Lhoste monkeys, Blue Monkey, Red tailed Monkeys or near the un habituated/wild Mountain gorillas. Have drinks at the Munyaga water falls before returning for lunch. The afternoon is spent on the cultural walk at Bwindi where one meets the local herbalist, banana beer making and the Batwa traditional dancers. Meals and overnight at The Gorilla Resort.
Depart Bwindi and start the Rwanda Gorilla Safari. The drive is through some magnificent mountains that act as the last refuge for the endangered mountain gorillas. Have a picnic lunch at one of the view points with the before heading across the border to the edge of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Meals and overnight at the Mountain Gorillas Nest or Virunga Lodge for a supplement.
The morning starts with registration before starting the morning hike through the Bamboo forest. The gorillas are usually found after about 2 hours and will be viewed for another hour. Return for lunch before dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorillas Nest or Virunga Lodge for a supplement.
After breakfast, we will be visiting the Dian (RIP) Fossey’s grade yard and the remains of the famous Karisoke mountain Gorilla Research centre. Return for dinner and overnight at the Mountain Gorillas Nest or Virunga Lodge.
Morning after breakfast, you may visit the Genocide memorial if time allows before heading out to the Kanombe George Kaibanda Airport for your departure flight. marking the end of your African Primate Safari.
